Cute, colorful...but not all that functional
Oh, it is such a cute, colorful and contemporary item compared to our ancient, clunky-looking metal steamer. But in the kitchen, it's function, not looks that really matter and, alas, this green "basket" steamer is a miss rather than a hit in use.

I tested this with our 3- and 4-quart pans. As others have noted, it probably fits better into and is easier to use/maneuver in a larger-size pot. But...we're not buying a new pot to accommodate the steamer. The metal steamer we use now fits perfectly in these sized pots and holds exactly the amount of veggies we normally steam. Because it takes up more space, this OXO model holds less in the pot.

Pros:
>Doesn't get hot (although if you've interlocked the handles to fit the basket into a smaller pot, you had better use protective handgear when unlocking handles and removing from pot)
>Easy general cleanup because the veggies we steam don't stick to it the way they sometimes do to the metal steamer we use. You...
